National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) film technicians worked tirelessly restoring Million Dollar Gamblers, a forgotten gem of Australian outback life of the early 1980s. Roger Whittaker’s 1982 documentary depicts the opal miners and underground homes of Coober Pedy, South Australia. The film also reveals how Coober Pedy has been changed by the recent arrival of television by satellite.
